Legal marriage assistance under the Special Marriage Act, 1954
An Inter-Religion Marriage allows two individuals belonging to different religions to marry legally without conversion. This process is governed by the Special Marriage Act, 1954, ensuring a civil marriage registered by the government Marriage Registrar.
The couple submits a Notice of Intended Marriage to the Marriage Registrar.
The notice is displayed for 30 days to invite objections, if any.
If objections arise, the Marriage Officer investigates and resolves them legally.
Both parties and 3 witnesses sign the declaration before the Registrar.
The official government marriage certificate is issued the same day.
