Marriage Registration Documents

Overview

Marriage Registration is the official process of recording a marriage that has already taken place (such as a traditional Hindu wedding, Nikah, or Arya Samaj marriage). Obtaining a Government Marriage Certificate is highly recommended as it acts as concrete legal proof of your union and is mandatory for immigration, visas, and joint bank accounts.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The couple must already be married.
  • The groom must be at least 21 years of age, and the bride at least 18 years.
  • The marriage must be registered under either the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, or the Special Marriage Act, 1954, depending on the religion of the couple.
